Courtney Johnson Rose is a businesswoman, real estate broker, investor, educator, and community leader. She is the Chief Executive Officer of George E. Johnson Development, Inc., a full-service real estate firm specializing in development services, owner representation, master planning, residential and commercial brokerage services, and president-elect of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers.

Courtney began her career as a project management consultant at Accenture, the world’s leading consulting company. In 2002, she earned a Texas real estate broker license and joined her family’s real estate firm GEJ Development as a real estate developer and broker. Since 2019, Courtney has served as CEO of GEJ, and under her leadership, the company has procured contracts with major institutions such as Houston Community College System, the Harris Center of Mental Health, Houston Independent School District, the City of Houston, FDIC and several banks, small businesses, and families.

As the president of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers, Courtney is responsible for leading the oldest minority trade association in the country with over 115 chapters. She is the immediate past chair of the Texas Association of African American Chambers, a statewide network of over 25 Black chambers of commerce. Governor Greg Abbott appointed Courtney as a director of the Texas State Affordable Housing Corporation (TSAHC). She also serves as a board member and past real estate committee chair of the Greater Houston Partnership, and she was the chairperson of the mayor’s transition team committee on small business opportunity and the city of Houston Taskforce on Minority and Women-Owned Businesses under Mayor Sylvester Turner. Courtney is also part of the Community Collective for Houston, which recently acquired The Power Center, a 110,000-square-foot multipurpose facility that includes a small business incubator, event center, urban farm, and private school.

Courtney holds a bachelor’s degree in economics, a master’s degree in community development, and a doctorate in organizational leadership. She is a certified project management professional (PMP) and a certified commercial investment member (CCIM). Since 2009, she has served as a faculty member and adjunct professor for Prairie View A&M University where she teaches Land Development and Real Estate courses.

Several organizations and media outlets have recognized Courtney for her professional success and contributions to the community. Women’s Magazine of Houston named her to its list of Top 50 Most Influential Women, and the Houston Business Journal named her to its list of 40 Under 40. Courtney has been featured several times by Black Enterprise magazine and has appeared on the covers of Empower, Real Estate Executive, Houston Realtor, and National Realtor publications. In 2013, she created and hosted an informative real estate show entitled Real Estate Today that appeared on Comcast.

Courtney is married with two children. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and being active in the community through her sorority, Delta Sigma Theta Inc.
