Courtney Johnson Rose entered the real estate business in the year 2000. Armed with a vision, determination and a foundation of faith, she was resolute to stand out from Houston’s crowded market. Since then, her hard work has paid off and she is becoming a rising star in the real estate industry.
When she was 28 years old, Courtney Johnson Rose was selected by the National Association of Realtors (NAR) and the REALTOR® Magazine as one of their "30 under 30" for 2007. This award features top Realtors across the United States who have maintained the status of being on top in the real estate industry before hitting their prime. She was also awarded “Realtist of the Year” in 2007 by the Houston Real Estate Association and was the HAR HERO of the month for September 2008. Courtney has been honored by Rolling Out Magazine as one of Houston’s Top 25 Most Influential Women in Houston for 2007 and she was featured on the January 2008 cover of Real Estate Executive Magazine. In addition, she has been nominated for Black Enterprises’ annual “40 under 40” list highlighting successful young African Americans around the country.
Courtney’s knowledge and passion for real estate is not at all surprising. Her father George Johnson, an African-American developer, started his company George E. Johnson Development Inc. in 1974. The company has since managed more than $1 billion in commercial real estate projects. Courtney obtained her Bachelors degree in Business and Economics from the University of Texas at Austin and earned her Masters in Community Development from Prairie View A&M University.
Courtney has also been appointed to several boards. She serves on the National Association of Realtors (NAR) Strategic Planning Board for 2007-09. In addition, she served on NAR’s Visitability in Housing Board, helping the organization develop policies around requirements in new construction developments regarding handicap accessibility. Locally, she serves as Chair of the NRG/Young Realtors Advisory Group of the Houston Association of Realtors. She was appointed the Houston Association of Realtors Board of Directors, where she is the youngest member of the Board. Courtney is also an adjunct professor for Prairie View A&M University.
Courtney is an active member of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers (NAREB – one of the oldest African American trade organizations in the country), where she serves as Vice President, Education Chair and Habitat for Humanity Chair for her local chapter, HREA. Active in the community as well, Courtney is involved with the Community Development Association of Houston and is the founder of the Agnes B. Johnson Scholarship given in the remembrance of her late mother. Courtney attributes her success to the love and support of her husband, Teeba Rose, her family’s drive and strong spirit of being an entrepreneur and most importantly her faith in God. She and her husband, Teeba, reside in Houston, Texas.
Courtney is currently working on her first book to be released in 2009, titled “You are Closer than you Think”, a guide to help young professionals reach their goals.
